Dental Treatments Covered By DVA

Preventive Dental Services

Veterans' dental treatments are covered
by the DVA to maintain their oral health.
In addition to regular checkups, cleanings,
and dentures, the DVA covers cavity
treatments and dentures.

Tooth Replacement Options

Dentures are a common tooth
replacement option for patients with
missing teeth. Every two years, you
should have your dentures relined.
Dentures are covered by DVA every
six years unless they have been
realigned in the last year.

Dental Implant Coverage

DVA Cardholders can receive different
types of dental implants depending on
their needs. In the last three years, you
can get 2 single tooth implants every
2 years. A partial upper jaw denture or
a full lower jaw denture can also be
supported by dental implants.

Bruxism Treatment

The DVA classifies bruxism as a
mental health condition, but it can
have significant dental implications.
Wear and tear on the teeth can be
caused by long-term bruxism. Bruxism
dental treatments are covered or not
by the Veteran Healthcard presented.

Emergency Dental Services

An injury to the teeth or gums can be
potentially serious and should not be
ignored. DVA cardholders can receive
treatment from a dental professional
in the event a dental emergency occurs.
